Uzbekistan’s deputy minister of foreign affairs Furkat Sidikov said on Friday that Agra has tremendous business potential. He was talking to the businessmen in the city after a meeting with the mayor. The meeting was held to understand the functioning of the command and control centre of the Agra smart city project.
He said that it is clear that the current government is focusing on the development of the tourism and footwear industries in Agra. He also talked about the wishes of the Uzbekistan government to develop business relations with the Agra entrepreneurs.
Talking to India Today, Furkat Sidikov said that the Uzbekistan government will put in efforts to take the business between India and Uzbekistan to new heights. He added that Agra could have a special place in attracting Uzbek businessmen to set up industries in the city.
The Uzbek minister and his delegation discussed the investment avenues with the representatives of various businesses. He said that the Uzbek businessmen are ready to come to Agra and invest in setting up large industries.
He spoke about the cultural and trade ties between India and Uzbekistan that go back to several centuries. Agra has several unique industries, like marble handicrafts, footwear and Zardozi which will be well suited to Uzbekistan.
Mayor Naveen Jain told India Today that the Uzbek Minister appreciated the work behind the Agra Smart City and its command and control centre.
