No. 6 Alabama is rolling over No. 24 Mississippi in Tuscaloosa in a game that the Crimson Tide needed after last week’s dramatic loss at Tennessee. Quarterback Bryce Young has thrown for 174 yards and tossed a pair of touchdowns as the Tide lead the Bulldogs 24-0 at halftime.

It’s nice to see Young get so much action in the passing game just three weeks after suffering a shoulder sprain vs. Arkansas; Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has called just eight running plays — one of which was a 19-yard run by Jahmyr Gibbs. Alabama scored 17 points in the second quarter to enter the locker room with momentum against a Bulldogs team that hasn’t had an answer for Young — the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner — through 30 minutes.

Mississippi State has had its chances on offense, though. The Bulldogs drove inside the Alabama 30-yard line on back-to-back drives spanning the first and second quarters, but were stopped on fourth down to end a 13-play drive and missed a field goal to end a 15-play, 39-yard drive early in the second frame.
