On March 28th hosts Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg continued to introduce the singers for the American Song Contest, a show inspired by the Eurovision Song Contest, which features a singer from every state including the five US territories and the District of Columbia to find out who is the best singer in America.
The show premiered last week, and we saw the first 11 competitors where according to the judges and voting from the viewers selected Rhode Island’s Hueston that performed his country-folk fusion “Held on Too Long”. The other 10 contestants have an opportunity to be able to join Hueston if voted so.
This week’s contestants were:
Almira Zaky (Virginia) took the stage to play the “amazing, loving people,” RnB
Broderick Jones (Kansas) had the modern RnB song “Can’t Make You Love Me”
Chloe Fredericks (North Dakota) presented the rhythmic “Can’t Make You Love Me”
courtship. (Oregon) executed the indie “Million Dollar Smoothies”
Cruz Rock (U.S. Virgin Islands) sung “Celebrando,” a with a bi-cultural urban vibe
ENISA (New York) performed the electronic pop song of “Green Light
Jocelyn (Nebraska) performed the “Never Alone” sweet ballad
Jonah Prill (Montana) sang “Fire It Up” an easygoing and fun country song
Jordan Smith (Kentucky) played the heart-warming “Sparrow”
King Kyote (Maine) did the “Get Out Alive,” number
Macy Gray (Ohio) displayed great showmanship with “Every Night”

This week’s automatic winner from the National Jury Selection was Kentucky’s Jordan Smith with the soft yet powerful Sparrow, a song that brought out the best out of Jordan and touched the audience and judges’ most delicate sentimental fibers. Jordan Smith is now in the second round along with Hueston in the semi-finals.
