Bowel cancer: When you should stop confusing it with ‘hemorrhoids’; here’s how to tell the difference

Hemorrhoids are swollen veins inside the anus. When these veins are irritated, either due to constipation or hard stool, they tear and bleed. Sometimes these swollen veins itch too.

Cancer is when the cells in a particular part of the body grow uncontrollably.

Common signs of hemorrhoids are itching or burning near the anus which worsens during bowel movement, bleeding from the anus region and blood in the stool.

Common signs of bowel cancer are blood in stool, bleeding from anus region, extreme fatigue, unexplained weight loss, change in bowel habits and nausea.
