12:20 p.m. Saturday UPDATE
The Nelson Fire has not grown since Friday night, the Shasta-Trinity National Forest said Saturday. It remains two acres in size.
The fire is 50% contained, the U.S. Forest said.
9 a.m. Saturday UPDATE
The Nelson Fire burning northwest of Big Bend grew to two acres Friday evening, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
About 50% of the fire is contained, the forest service said. Firefighters worked Friday night into Saturday morning to further containment around the fire.
The Nelson Fire is burning in south of Lake McCloud in a wilderness area with steep terrain, Shasta-Trinity National Forest Public Affairs Officer Ruth Esperance said.
Firefighters from Lassen National Forest and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection are also on the scene, she said.

Firefighters are battling a small brush fire about 3 miles southeast of Lake McCloud in Shasta County, according to the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.
As of 4 p.m. Friday, the Nelson Fire burned one acre of wilderness in an area about 10 miles southeast of Dunsmuir and about 20 miles northwest of Big Bend.
The fire is spreading slowly, Shasta-Trinity National Forest Public Affairs Officer Ruth Esperance said.
Crews are fighting the fire from the air and water tanker trucks are on site at the fire, she said.
Firefighters were able to get hose line around half of the fire by 4:30 p.m., Esperance said.
The terrain is steep, but “they’re making good progress,” she said.
