Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick spotted enjoying cricket in Barbados during international break

Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has been pictured enjoying cricket on holiday in Barbados.

Rangnick was appointed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s interim successor in November but the German has found it difficult to inspire an upturn in fortunes as he would have hoped. The March international break has now begun and United find themselves four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, with the North London club also having one game in hand over the Reds to play.

United’s hopes of securing Champions League football have taken a blow this week following Arsenal’s win this weekend. Rangnick’s objective for the remainder of the season was to lead the club to finish in the top four and that now looks unlikely.

However, United still have nine games to play and Rangnick and his players might benefit from the break in the domestic schedule.

United’s players have had the chance to recharge their batteries in between the Champions League defeat against Atletico Madrid and the international fixtures starting and Rangnick has used that opportunity to head on holiday to Barbados.

Rangnick was pictured at the cricket on Saturday afternoon, watching West Indies against England in the second Test.

Rangnick will move upstairs at United into a consultancy role at the end of the season and the search for a new permanent manager is well underway. Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are the two leading candidates to succeed Rangnick at Old Trafford.

United will next be in action on Saturday, April 2 against Leicester in the Premier League.
