Penguins release 2022-’23 schedules | News, Sports, Jobs
YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State announced its men’s and women’s non-conference basketball schedules for the 2022-23 campaign.
The men begin the season Nov. 7 at Canisius before hosting UT-Martin on Nov. 9. The Penguins then travel to Notre Dame on Nov. 13 before hosting Grace Christian on Nov. 15. Originally, YSU was to host Geneva College on Nov. 10, but that no longer is taking place.
After that, YSU will play in a two-game MTE at Navy, and will take on UC San Diego on Nov. 19 and the Midshipmen on Nov. 20. That’s followed by a Nov. 26 road trip to Western Illinois. The Penguins then have a pair of Horizon League games — Dec. 1 at Northern Kentucky and Dec. 4 at Wright State — before hosting Westminster on Dec. 8 and Ohio on Dec. 11. The men’s nonconference slate concludes with a game against Southern University on Dec. 16 and then a road trip to Central Michigan on Dec. 21.
On the women’s side, the season begins with a home game against Wofford on Nov. 7 before a week off. YSU then will play three consecutive road games: Nov. 15 at Penn State, Nov. 18 at Akron and Nov. 22 at Western Michigan. November concludes with a Nov. 26 game against St. Francis Brooklyn at home.
December begins with two league games — NKU on Dec. 2 and Wright State on Dec. 4 — before the Penguins host WVU Tech on Dec. 6. YSU then rounds out its nonconference slate with home games against Canisius (Dec. 10), St. Francis (PA) on Dec. 16 and Mount Vernon Nazarene on Dec. 21.
