Travellers heading to the US Virgin Islands from the mainland United States will no longer have to upload their information to the Travel Screening Portal.
Governor Albert Bryan issued an executive order yesterday to repeal the travel screening portal.
The Executive Order, which takes effect on May 31, says:
1. Federal guidelines and restrictions continue to apply to all international travel, including travel from the British Virgin Islands.
2. For all commercial ferry and private water taxi vessels leaving or entering the territorial waters of the US Virgin Islands, the maximum number of occupants onboard is 75 per cent of the vessel manufacturer’s specified capacity in compliance with the maximum capacity by the US Coast Guard for the maximum weight and number of passengers for each vessel.
Ending the travel portal, which came into effect in 2020, is part of the government’s “Open Door Phase” as it moves to live with coronavirus (COVID-19).
As of May 2022, the territory has reported 19,020 infections and 111 deaths.
