The heat always seems to get turned up when the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Vice City.
This year’s edition of the race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the Dixie Vodka 400, should be no exception. The stakes are as high as they have been for playoff drivers: with just two races left until the Championship 4 race, there are precious few opportunities for drivers to make their claim for a Cup Series title.
After Joey Logano’s late rally at Las Vegas, just three spots remain open. Of the seven playoff drivers yet to punch their ticket into the next round of the postseason, just two — Denny Hamlin and William Byron — have won at the 1.5-mile oval in South Florida.
So, it won’t be easy. But winning a Cup Series championship rarely is. The race at Homestead will go a long way in determining who is crowned champion.
