Not only is Jose Pedraza looking to get back to his winning ways, but the former two-division champion is ready to win gold in another weight class. On August 27, Pedraza faces Richard Commey.

The junior-welterweight fight takes place inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Pedraza turned pro in 2011. He won the IBO super featherweight title in 2014, defending it twice before losing it to Gervonta Davis in 2017. Since then, Pedraza has won and lost the WBO lightweight title and has gone 7-3 in his last ten fights. Pedraza’s last outing was a unanimous decision loss to Jose Ramirez in March.

“I know that a convincing victory against an opponent of Commey’s caliber will put me back in contention to capture that coveted world title opportunity,” Pedraza stated. “Despite what happened in my last fight, I still have my sights set on being crowned world champion at 140 pounds. I’m still chasing my goal of becoming a three-division world champion.”

Commey made his pro debut in 2011. An African and Commonwealth lightweight champion, he won the IBF lightweight title in 2019. He lost the belt to Teofimo Lopez later that year. Commey’s last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Vasiliy Lomachenko last December.
