Can Bobby Green pull off the upset and take down a potential title contender in Islam Makhachev? UFC Vegas 49 takes place on Feb. 26 from inside the UFC’s APEX Center in Las Vegas.
Makhachev, a 2016 Sambo World Championships gold medalist, made his pro debut in 2010. Joining the UFC in 2015, Makhachev lost the first fight of his career against Adriano Martins. Since then, Makhachev is on a nine-fight win streak. During that stretch, he has won four fights via submission, one via knockout and four via decision.
Makhachev was supposed to face off against Beneil Dariush, but the latter had to back out after an ankle injury.
Green made his pro debut in 2008. A former King of the Cage junior welterweight and lightweight champion, Green joined the UFC in 2013. He is 10-7-1 with the promotion. Green is on a two-fight win streak, recently beating Nasrat Haqparast at UFC 271. He took the fight against Makhachev on 10 days’ notice.
